AnatoliLubskiandprofessorVictorChernousexpresstheviewthatRus-
sianelitologicalstudiesoscillatearoundthreethematicblocks:a)thehistory
ofthepoliticalelite;b)themechanismsofemergenceandfunctioningofthe
eliteatthefederallevel;c)thespecifityofregionalelites.Theauthorsdiag-
nosetheconditionofthesestudies,describetheongoingdiscourseofvarious
schoolsaroundtheparadigmsandtheoreticalandmethodologicalbaseused
inthestudyofpoliticalelites,mainlyintheNorthCaucasus.Theyexplainthe
originsoftheeliteoftheregion,theirethnocracyandtheproceduresofgain-
inglegitimacy.
DrPrzemysławAdamczewskipointstotheproblemsandpitfallsinthe
studyofelitesofDagestanandtheotherrepublicsoftheregion.Heempha-
sizesthatinmanypublicationstheboundarybetweenscienceandjournalism
becomesblurred,while„mediafacts“oftendominateovertheactualevents,
whilereproducedstereotypessimplifyanddeformtheCaucasianreality.The
authoridentifiesotherresearchdifficultiesandpitfallswitheuropocentrism
andnon-criticalimplementationofpoliticalsciencetheorethicalbackground.
Inthiscontext,themethodologicalconsciousnessofmultipleconditionsof
theresearchonpoliticalelites,tobeginwithdifficultieswiththeaccessto
theinformationandlimitedpossibilitiesofitsverification.Theauthorrecom-
mendstheculturalapproachtothestudyonthepoliticalelitesoftheregion.
Thisarticlewasdesignedtoinitiateadiscussion.
Thesecondpartofthebookisopenedwithachapterdevotedtothenature
ofpoliticalregimesintherepublicsoftheNorthCaucasus.ProfessorTadeusz
BodiopointstothehybridnatureoftheregimeoftheRussianFederation
andtheevolutionoftheregimeafteryear2012.Heemphasizesthatinover
twodecadesarichmosaicofpoliticalregimeswasformedintheregion.He
analyzesthestagesofevolutionoftheseregimes.Hedrawsaconclusionthat
etnization,includingitsspecialformofethnocracy,wasoneofthekeyfactors
determiningthestructureofpoliticalregimesofthenationalrepublics.The
authorcharacterizesthepoliticalregimesofAdygea,Chechnya,Dagestan,
Ingushetia,Kabardino-Balkaria,Karachay-Cherkessia,andNorthOssetia-
Alania.
ProfessorOlgaWasiutaidentifiesandexplainsthecauseandeffectrela-
tionshipswhichoccurbetweentheethnopolitiscoftheregionandthemecha-
