challengescausedbytheglobalfinancialcrisis.Onecouldfinditinterestingthat
inPolishmanagementliteratureoflasttwentyyearstherewerenotmanyworks
focusingontheconceptofcorporaterenewal.Apossibleexplanationmaybethat
managerialissuesconcerningthePolisheconomyoflasttwentyyearshavebeen
respondingtosuchthemeslikecreatingstrategyofgrowth,maximizingorganization
efficiency,developingefficientmarketingstrategiesanddevelopingmodernhuman
resourcespolicies.AsthePolisheconomyoflasttwentyyearscouldbedescribedby
creatingthemarketandexpandingdomesticaswellasforeignenterprisesoperating
here,dealingwithcrisisandredefinitionoftheirownbusinesswerenotthatintere-
stedtopicsforpractitionersaswellasresearchers.

wingcompany.Moreover,theredefinitionofexistingproductsandmarketsandalso
theeconomicmodelofoperationsmadenecessarystrategicadjustmentsmuchmore
complex.
Theaforementionedchallengesbroughtourattentiontotheconceptofcorporate
strategicrenewal,whichhasbeenemerginginWesternmanagementliteratureforlast
twentyyears.Webelievethatutilizingtherenewalconceptfortheinterpretationof
crisistransformationsmighthelptounderstandhowPolishenterpriseswithdynamic
growthonlyexperiencefacedunexpectedglobalcrisis.Itmayalsohelptoidentify
commonthemesofsuchrenewalprocessessupplyinggoodideasformanagement.
Ourcallforpapersforthisissueresultedinmanyarticlessentbyauthorsfrom
