Vasa.Duringtheparliamentsessionin1646therewasapoliticalgamebetweenthepar-
liamentariansandtheking.ItwasattheSejmin1646thattheonlysenateanddeputies’
colloquiumoftheabsenteregetookplaceinthetimeofthesecondVasa.Thejointmeet-
ingofdeputiesandsenatorswasanexpressionofoppositiontothepolicyoftheking
whowasseekingawarwithTurkey.Bothparliamentarystates,inspiteofnumerousdif-
ferencesandpoliticalexpectations,spokeinacommonvoiceandexposedtheweakness
oftheroyalpolicy.Althoughthekingsuferedapoliticaldefeat,theSejmdidnotpromote
thewinners.Itwastheculminatingmomentwhenthepoliticalroadsandexpectations
ofthekingandthenobilitydiverged.
