INTRODUCTION
Temonographpresentsselectedtechnical,organizationalandITaspectsasthey
applytomoderntransportsystems,thestudyisdividedintoseveralchapters.
Inthefirstchapter,theauthorspresenttheprinciplesofdesigningandoptimi-
zingtheoperationofanelectricbuspoweredbyhydrogenfuelcells.Teproject
involvestheuseofelectricmotorslocatedinthehubsofthedriveaxles,whichare
capableofrecoveringbrakingenergy.Tehydrogentanksandtractionbatteriesare
locatedontheroofofthebus.Telatterpartofthischapterpresentsaspectsrelated
totheoperationofbuses.Parameterssuchastheaveragespeedandaveragedaily
mileageofsuchabustravellingbetweenseveralEuropeancitiesweredetermined.
Tesecondchapterpresentsanewmethodfortheselectionoftheoperational
parametersofvehiclesintermsofincreasingtheirdurabilityofuse.Certainphe-
nomenathatmaylimitthecorrectoperationofvehicleshavebeenidentified,these
resultfrom:poortechnicalconditionofthevehiclesandtheirinabilitytoperform
transporttasksasaresult,incorrectorganizationofthetransportprocessthereby
preventingtheuseoftheirfullcapacity,lackofloadcapacity,timelossesandunne-
cessaryemptyruns,insufcienttechnicalsupportandservicingaswellasalackof
repairfacilitieswhichresultsinunnecessarydelays.Aproposedmethodofselecting
vehicleoperationalparameterswaspresented,itisbasedonelementsofadynamic
programmingmodelwhichmakesuseofheuristicalgorithms.
Tenextchapterisdevotedtotheproblemsrelatedtotheroadtransportofdan-
gerousgoods,specificallyradioactivematerials.Tefirstpartofthestudypresents
theapplicablelegalprovisionsonthebasisofwhichroadtransportofsuchloadsis
organized.Next,certainaspectsoftheclassificationofradioactivematerialsandthe
transportcontainersusedforthispurposewerediscussed.Teaimofthestudyis
todescribethemostimportanthazardsposedbyradioactivematerialsduringroad
transportandthemethodsthatmaybeusedtoeliminatethem.
Tefourthchapterofthemonographisconcernedwithapresent-dayproblem,
namelyamethodforreducingthesizeofaparkingspacewithoutreducingitsfunc-
tionalityundertheassumedspecificconditions.Ananalysiswaspresentedwhich
ledtotheconclusionthatthespacemaybenarrowerthanassumed,anditwillnot
increasetheproblemsrelatedtoparkingorthedriverandpossiblyapassenger
exitingthecar.Onthebasisofthecollecteddata,themainschemeofreducingthe
widthofthespace,calledtheAlternativeSystemwasproposed,thisdesignmakes
itpossibletolimitthewidthofthespaceonthepassengerside(assumingthatthe
carhasasteeringwheelonthelefside).Tissystemdoesnotreducethespace
requiredbythedrivertogetinandout,nordoesitreducethelengthoftheparking
spacebycurrentstandards.
