Theterm“quality”inthelanguageoftheOpenFormshould
beunderstoodastherecognitionoftheindividualinacollective.
ThebasicelementsoftheOpenFormpresentedabovearethe
meshedvectorswhichwillformthenewarchitecture.Thenewnumber
willproducenewqualityandconverselytheconceptofthenewquality
willhelpusresolvethenumber.
TheOpenForm,unliketheClosedForm,doesnotexcludethe
energyoftheclient’sinitiativebutoncontrarytreatsitasabasic,
organic,andinseparablecomponentelement.Thisfact

elementsandthesubjectiveindividualelements.Thisorganicnecessity
ofoursociety—themutualpermeationofsuperficiallyopposedelements
—willinresultproduceamoreproperdistributionofmeansassignedfor
thispurpose.Itwillaidinsolvingtheproblemoffillinginthegapsofthe
lackingmeans,andconsequentlywillresolvetheproblemofquantity.
Wemustconsideronlythoseelementsobjectiveandsocialwhich
weattainduetosociety.Subjectiveelementsarethosewhichwecanand
wishtoresolveourselves.
Inthefirstgroupweincludeactionbasedonareaplanninginthe
scaleofacountry—city-planningonthescaleofaregionorcity.Indetail,
itwillmeanthepreparationofthe“sites”for“one-familyhouses”onthe
firstfloor,secondfloor,thirdfloor,fourthfloor,etc.,uptothetopfloor
inaskyscraper.Preparationof“sites”forconstructionwilldependupon
thesolutionofsuchelementsas:theinfluenceoflocalconditionsonthe
formationofcityplanninggroups;the“passe-partout”forsocialliving;
acommonmeansofcommunication;ofinstallations;offundamental
economicsinbuilding;andsoon.Thechoiceoftheplace“where”inthe
city,bywayofanswertopublicinformation,willbemadebytheclient.
Thisisthefirstinstanceinwhichtheobjectiveandsubjectiveelements
permeateeachother.Afterthe“site”hasbeenchosen,thetenant
decidesonthesysteminwhichthehomeistobebuilt.
