100%objectivity.Theoreticalawarenessandknowledgeisalwaysgoingtobeinl-
tratedbyasubjectivitymotivatedprimarilybyalongingfortheembodimentin
realityofthatversionofthecountryweascitizen-residentsandmembersofsociety
wouldwishtosee.
Havingexpressedalloftheabovereservations,theauthorisleftwiththehope
thatshortcomingsnotwithstandingthisbookmayprovehelpfulto"profes-
sionalsinthesameeld”,betheseexperts,diplomats,researchersorstudents,or
indeedallthosemanyotherswhomaysimplybeinterestedinPoland,sforeign
policy.Afterall,itisworthgettingtoknowtheforeignpolicyofone,sowncoun-
try,notleastinorderthatthatpolicymightyetbeinuencedofcoursebyway
ofthedemocraticprocesstobetterandmorefullyservetheinterestsofstateand
citizensalike,ratherthanmerelysatisfyingtheambitionsoftherulingelite,orelse
servingaslittlemorethananinstrumentinpoliticalinghting.
