[Figs.1,2].Thestylobate,whichwasre-
vealedinthenorthtransept,wasmadeof
blocksofnummulithiclimestoneaver-
aging1.00by0.75m.Ofthemarble
columnsthathadstoodonthestylobate,
threeshaftsof0.35mdiameterwerefound
onthefloorofthetranseptinthisarea.
Onecompleteshaftwas2.21mlong;the
othertwowerefragmentary.Furthermore,
Grossmann'spresumedintercolumnarspace
ofc.2.40mhasnowbeenconfirmed.4
Consequently,thenumberofcolumnsin
thetranseptshouldbereconstructedas
twelve.Fourofthesecolumnswerelater
incorporatedintothewallofthenorthern
pastophorium(prothesis?)duringare-
buildingofthechurch,asindicatedbythe
negativeimpressionsinlimemortarof
threeofthesecolumns,recordedduring
