hunginthechoirgalleryinfrontofthemainaltarl
Themonumentwasmovedtothewesternwallof
thenorthernmatroneuminthe1930s,wherethe
woodenbeamandmetalhandlesthatformerlyheld
theepitaphcanstillbeseenlAftertheeventsof
1945,thecollegiatechurchwaspartiallydestroyed
andburntdownlThankstoReverendJanPękalski,
theepitaphwasmovedtothechurchofOurLady
inBiałogard6,whereithasbeensignificantlyaltered
andnowservesasthealtarofResurrectiononthe
easternwallofthenorthernmatroneumlTheepi-
taphwasrenovatedbefore1980l
Acomparisonoftheepitaphinitspresent
formwithitsphotographrevealstheextentofal-
terationsmadeafterthewarlMostimportantly,the

Insomecases,inscriptionsalsoincludeimportant
eventsfromthelifeofthepersonitisdedicated
toandthenameofitsfounderlInthecaseofthe
vonKniggefamily,onlyashortnoteontheirhis-
toryhasbeenpreservedinthecollectionoftheNa-
tionalArchiveinSzczecinl7Unfortunately,thereis
nomentionofFaustinusinthenoteandforthis
reasonthepersoncommemoratedintheepitaph
remainsvirtuallyunknownl
Theauthorofthearticle,however,managedto
discoveratranscriptionofthepreviouslyunknown
