distantfromtheHippocraticOathofthedoctors,whichwenowrec-
ognizeonlyasapurelyformalmatter?ItseemsthatEUistheonly
guarantorofsecularism,hedonism,pragmatism,utilitarianism,mate-
rialismandtheethicalpracticeofpolytheism.Postmodernpeople,
however,clearlylackamoralorientation.Peopleateverysteplament
thelackofuniversalvalues,becauseeveryonedoeswhathewants,
andmainlythemorepowerfulones.
Therelationofethics–technologypostulatesarequirementof
opennesstonewexperiencesinrelationtotherenewedinterestinhu-
manrights.Theexistingconflictbetweenmoralprinciplesandscien-
tificprogressrequiresthatthemanshouldbetreatedasanobject,from
thestageofanembryotonaturaldeath.Wenowfocusonanything
exceptspirituality.Thedictatorshipofrelativism,debtbondagein
manycountries,curtailmentofthenationalsovereignty,makingata-
booofcertaintopicsinsocialandscientificenvironment,uptothe
lossofhope,itallrelatestothemoralconscienceofpeople.Jacques
Maritainwouldsaythatmostvaluesarelostwhenthereisnointerest
inthemandthisisourreality.Wehaveforgottenthat:nManisthe
measureofallthings”18.Awishofthepowerfulisslowlytopushaway
thepersonalisticconcept,accentuatingthevalueofapersonwhohas
theethicalvalueinhim/herself,and,therefore,isnotallowedtoma-
nipulatewiththehumanconscience.
Newtechnologicalbreakthroughsandbiotechnologiesbringwith
themselvesmanymoral-legal,socio-socialandpsychologicalprob-
lemsforwhichtheanswersarelacking.Medicineandtechnologyare
nowcustom-madefortheman,butwedonotrealizethatthisspread-
ingmythofsciencechangesanddiminishesphysicalintegrity,dis-
ruptsinterpersonalrelationships,forexampletherelationphysician–
patientandresultsinthetherapeuticabandonment.Intheuniversity
hospitalinBratislava(8.2.2011)34physicianssubmittedapetition
concerningtheirrightnottocarryoutabortionsbecauseoftheirobjec-
tionofconscience,whichwasimmediatelymassivelypublicizedwith
