Introduction
Tecategoriesofdevelopmentandsupportdifuseintoeachother.Tisbe-
comesespeciallytransparentincaseofpeoplewhosedevelopment(regardlessthe
reason)hasbeendisturbed.Itseemssimpletodividethereasonsintobiologicaland
socialones.Mostfrequently,theyoccurinafeedbackrelationandtheyinfluence
eachother.Tegenesisandqualityofdisordersisamajor,butnottheonlyone,
specificitymarkerofthewaysinwhicheducationalandsocialneedsofthedisabled
arefulfilled.Tus,sensiblesupportcanbereferredtoonlywhenitisadequateto
developmentalabilitiesofaperson.Teseabilitiesresultfrommanyfactors,outof
whichdevelopmentaldisordersandsocialconditionsoftheindividual’sdevelop-
mentappeartobeofmajorsignificance.
TekeyideaofthepresentedvolumeSocialandEducationalConditionsofthe
DevelopmentandFunctioningofChildrenandYouthwithDisabilityisviewingboth
thetasksofschoolasaninstitutionandtheconditionsandefectsofeducational
processinthecontextoflearners’development.Ononehand,schooleducation
shouldbetreatedasanimportantelementofsupport(markedbyitsparticipants’
potentialities);ontheotherhand,itshouldenhancelearners’development.
Tewholeworkconsistsofthreeparts.Inthefirsttheauthorsfocusonthe
issuesofemotionalandsocialdevelopmentofdisabledchildrenandyouth.Tesec-
ondpartcomprisesselectedissuesconcerningthefunctioningofschoolsetinthe
meltingpotofdiferentsocialexpectations.Inthelastpart,thereadercanfindtexts
dealingwiththecomplexityoftheenvironmentinwhichtheeducationalprocess
ofdisabledlearnersisset.Tisenvironmentsometimesreferstosocialexpectations
butinothercasesitisconstitutedonlybytheneedsofparticipantsoftheeduca-
tionalprocess.
