theJointWorkshopoftheEASTResearchNetwork1onĆSilver
EconomyinCentralandEasternEurope’,whichwasheldatthe
FacultyofEconomicsandSociology,UniversityofŁódź,between
22and23June2018.2Theworkshopprovidedparticipantswith
anopportunitytopresentdifferentaspectsofthesilvereconomy,
suchasactiveageing,public-privatepartnershipsinthesilver
economy,andthelifelongworkplace,andtodiscussnational
ageingpoliciesandtheroleofgovernmentsandotheractorsin
shapingthelivingconditionsofageingpopulationsinselected
countriesinCentralandEasternEuropeandRussia.
Theworkshopmeetingspromptedtheideaofproducingawork
thatspecificallyanalysespoliciesonseniorsintwoEUcountries
(PolandandHungary)and,inmoregeneralterms,inRussia.The
researchassumptionwasthatwhiletheglobalnatureofpopulation
ageingimpliedtheprobabilityofallthreecountriesusingsimilar
seniorpolicymeasures,theirdifferenthistory,culture,thecourse
ofageingprocesses,andlegalsolutionsjustifiedcollectingtheir
policiesonoldercitizensinasinglevolumetoenablecomparisons
andtheidentificationofbestpractices.
