(withtheemphasisonsustainabledevelopmentandaccessibility),demographictrendsin
residing,changingroleofhousingownershiprights,roleofresidingineverydaylifefromthe
perspectiveofgender,socialclassandage,degradationandregenerationofurbanareas,
conditionofneighbourhoodcommunitiesandcomparativestudiesofhousingsystems
(Jewdokimow,Łukasiuk2014,p.20).
However,apartfromtheAnglo-Saxonstudies,housingresearchisstill
placedvariously.IthasbeensuggestedinPolishacademicstudiestodefinethis
researchashousingpolicy.
FollowingAdamAndrzejewski:
Initssecondmeaning,whichwasshapedmuchlaterinthecourseofdevelopmentof
researchontheissuesofhousing,housingpolicyisadisciplineofsciencewhichformulates
theoreticalguidelinesforprogrammingpracticalactivities.Underthispolicy,housing
relationsareexamined,togetherwiththepatternswhichoccurinthem,onthebasisofwhich
theaimsandmethodsforinfluencingthesystemofhousingrelationsaredetermined.
Tobemoreprecise,itmaybeaddedthathousingpolicyspecifiesthemethodsforsupervising
thedevelopmentofhousingrelationsandresolvingtheissuesofmaintainingandreproducing
thematerialbase,i.e.thehousingstockinthiscase.Thesubjectoftheresearchistheentirety
oftheseissuesintheireconomic,socialandtechnicalaspects.
Alargelypragmaticcharacterofhousingpolicydoes,obviously,haveaconsiderableimpact
onthechoiceoftheresearchsubjectmatter.Itresultsfrombothspecificconditionsof
thesystemandthelevelofeconomicdevelopment,aswellasthecharacterandintensity
ofhousingneeds,whicharealsoaffectedbythedemographicfactorsandgeographic
environment(...)(Andrzejewski1987,pp.29–30).
Withinhousingpolicyunderstoodinsuchaway–asadisciplineofscience,
Andrzejewskispecified(housing,researchsubjectswhichwerepartsofthe
economic,socialortechnicalsubjectmatter.Housingstudieswerebroadly
depictedastheSociologyofHousing(Cesarski2015).Itwasalsosuggested
thatthetermhousingstudiesshouldbetranslatedintothePolishscientific
achievementsinhousingasaperspectivecalledSociologyofdwelling(Jewdo-
kimow,Łukasiuk2014,p.20).
TheresearchonhousinginPolandhasbeenconductedwithinvarious
disciplinesofscience,withthemostsignificantonesbeingeconomics,sociology,
geography,architecture,urbanstudies,psychologyandsocialpolicy.Atthesame
time,thereisagradualtendencyintheresearchtogobeyondtheframeworkof
individualdisciplines,andshifttowardsinterdisciplinarity.Ontheonehand,it
