ingasaliteraryandartisticframetheconsiderationspresentedhere,Ipropo-

sethattheartisticandliteraryphenomenonofsynthesisinthearts-aswell

asalnitiesbetweenthearts-assumesinthelate19thandearly20thcentury

amarkedlydiversecharacterthatclearlydifersfromtraditionalforms.It

wasthenthattheartsbegantoundergodiferentiation,aprocessstillun-

derwaytoday,whosesoleestheticandartisticcriterionseemstohavebeen,

andremains,originality.Atthesametime,synthesis(alnity)cametobe

usedmoreandmoreofeninasenseapproachingsyncretism-modernity/
