AbstrAct:Inthelightofrecentworldfactsrelatedtotheeconomic,humani-
tarianandsocialcrisis,particularlyvisiblewithintheEU,strengtheningchildren’s
socialcompetencesandfosteringtheirindividualpsychosocialresourcesfroman
earlyagebecomesofvitalimportance.Thenotionofresilientchildisanemerging
conceptforunderstandingchildren’scopingwiththemodern-daypaceofsocial
changeandtheassociatedstress.Resilienceastheabilityofanindividualtoposi-
tivelyadaptinresponsetoadversityisakeycompetencetobefosteredinchildren
livinginthepresentmulticulturalsocieties.Thereisnosinglepathtoresilience;
thepresence,however,ofseveralprotectivefactorsmightoffsetriskfactorsand
increasethechancesforresilience.Aclusterofindividual,family,andcommu-
nityfactorshasbeenidentifiedthatbestexplainsresilienceinchildren.Thispaper
presentsaliteraturereviewidentifyingthosefactors,anddiscusseshowresilience
researchhasand/orshouldinformeducationalthinkinginthecurrentmulticultural
society,inordertobestsupportresilienceinchildren.Thepaperconcludesthata
paradigmshiftisrequiredineducationalthinkingfromoldandcurrenttrendsof
pessimisticthinkingaboutstudents,toacknowledgingchildrenofthisnewmod-
ernmulticulturaleraasactiveagentsandexpertsintheirownlives,aspossessing
strengthsandvirtues,andinnatebouncing-forwardskillsandmentalhealth.
