nomicresearch,whichisimportantforfurtherreadingandreflection.Chap-
ters4and5shouldalsobeusefulforresearchersnotinvolvedinthefield
ofeconomics.Chapters6–9strictlyrelatetoeconomics,bothinformand
content.Theypresenttheauthor’sthoughtsontheessentialpurposeof
economicsandtheusefulnessofthecategoriesdiscussedearlier.
Thestructureofthebookisbasedontherelationshipbetweencon-
ceptsratherthanonparticularfields,althoughthisisoftennoteditorially
pointedout.Themainsubjectsofthetextaretheprinciplesofmodelling
andtheorizingandtheirusefulnesstoeconomists,treatedbroadlyfromthe
perspectiveofthemethodologyofscience.Duetospaceconstraints,some
highlyimportantscientificideasarenotaddressedhere,suchasequilibrium,
force(alsoasaneconomicconcept),methodsofmeasurement,mereologi-
calprinciples,gamesandentropy.However,theyobviouslydeservedeep
