tireworldisexperiencingconsiderablechanges.Theglobalcrisisisoften
blamedasthecauseofallfailures.Ontheotherhand,somepeopleconsider
itanintegralpartofdevelopmentandtrytolearnfromit,andthusbecome
strongerbyevaluatingtheexperiencebroughtaboutbythenewsituation.
TherecenteconomiccrisisisagoodlessonformanyBalticmanagers.
Thelasttenyearshavebeenatimeofrapidgrowth,andmanagershave
hadtoperforminconstantlydevelopingeconomicconditions.Thecurrent
marketsituationwillextendtheoutlookofmanagers.However,itistoo
earlytotalkofrealexperience-notenoughtimehaspassed,andnewsuc-
cessstoriesarenotyetvisible.

trepreneurshadmoreorlesswiselyandcarefullydevelopedtheirbusiness-
es,thensuccessandreasonableprofitlevelswouldhavebeenguaranteed.
Nevertheless,suchfactorsasthelimitedbusinessexperienceofBalticen-
trepreneurs,unrestrainedaccesstocreditresourcesandinsufficientassess-
mentoftherisksforcreditorsanddebtors,orientationontheimportand
internalmarket,solventandnotsufficientlydemandingmarketsandalack
ofcompetitionhaverestrictedthedevelopmentofmanyessentialcompe-
tenceswhichareofgreatimportanceinthemoreseveremarketconditions
thatarebeingexperiencednow.
