however,doesnotreflectthewholetruth.Contemporarilynotonlypoliticsbut
alsolawplaysthemostsignificantroleinshapingthelegalstatusofwomeninthe
society,influencing-bymeansofthenormativeactsadoptedbythelegislator-
theirrights,freedomsandliberties.Moreover,societyoftenimposesonthebody
“anetworkofmeaningsandobligationswhichmustbemetsothatanindividual
couldconsiderhimorherselfasrational”,aswellasmedicinewhichnowadays
claimstherighttocontrolpeople’sbehaviours(bothinhealthandillness),including
thereproductiveprocessesofthehumanspeciesandthewaythecorporealityis
perceived-thisphenomenonisknownas“themedicalisationofthesociallife”3.
Humanbodyisdescribedasaculturalrecord,alenswhichreflectssocialideas,
issuesofpower,subordinationandageneralvisionoftheworld4.Thecontrol
overfemalebodyisexpressedprimarilyinaformofstrongpressureexertedon
womenbytheenvironmenttheyliveinsothattheydecidedtohaveachildas
evencontemporarilywomenstillfunctioninapatriarchalsocietyinwhichthey
haveadutytogivebirthandtakecareofchildren-itregardstheintimatelifeof
awoman,hersexualityandisexercisedby,amongothers,religiousandmoral
normsindicatingwhatisrightorwrong,aswellasbytheadoptionorlackoflaws
(legalnorms)regulatingsuchdelicateissuesasabortion,alackoftheavailability
ofprenataltests,co-financingofthecontraceptivesorproperfamilypolicyofthe
state5.
Overpastyears(decades)womenhavebeenfightingfortheirrights-notonly
theelectoralrightsorguaranteesofequaltreatmentwithmenintheworkplacebut
alsoinrespectofthepossibilityofself-determination.Everyoneshouldremember
