attheJagiellonianUniversityorganizedbytheuniversity’slanguagecentre
(JagiellońskieCentrumJęzykoweUJ)anddesignedasa60-hourcourse,primar-
ilyfocusedonwritingresearchpapers.1
Studentprofile
Thestudentsparticipatinginthisyear’scoursearemostlyfirst-orsecond-year
doctoralstudentsattheJagiellonianUniversity.Thecoursewasdesignedtomeet
theirneedsinwritinguptheirresearchintheformofconferencepapersandre-
searcharticlesandhasbeentaughtforthepastyear.Belowisashortprofileof
thosestudentswhohavechosentosignupforthecoursethisyear:
•Previousparticipationinwritingcourses(inbothL1andL2)
•Regularreadersofresearchpapers
•Someexperienceofwritingresearchpapers
•Closefamiliaritywiththeirfieldofstudy
•Highlydevelopedcriticalthinkingskills
•Languagelevelrange:fromB2+toC2
Astheteacherresponsibleforthiscourse,Iwouldemphasizethatalltheabove
characteristicscanbeharnessedforthebenefitofteachingthecourse.Ofpar-
ticularimportancearestudents’analyticalskillsandtheirexperienceofreading
