-accordingtoCellary(2000),oneofthegreatestchallengeseducationisfacingnowadays
istheconstantlyenlargingamountofknowledgetobepossessed.Theoldmodelof
education,asCellary(2000)claims,"20yearsofstudyand40yearsofwork,"isnolonger
sufficientforapersontosurvive.Therapidaccumulationofknowledgeforcespeopleto
acquireanumberofskillsandoccupationsduringtheirentirelife,whichmeansthatthe
focusofeducationhastoswitchfromtheteacher'spassingtheknowledgetostudentsto
learners'activesearchingfornecessaryknowledgeandacquiringit.Thus,Cellary's
argumentfollows,theroleofeducationistoformnewlearningtechniquesandstrategies
usingInformationandCommunicationTechnology,toallowlearnerstotakeresponsibility
fortheirlearningbymakingdecisionsaboutthecontent,tofosterlearnerautonomy,and
tocreatemorerealisticlearningenvironmentsbyusingtheInternetasasourceofmaterials

positiveeffectonlearners'motivation,callsforsystematicimplementationofICTprocesses
andtoolsinthelanguageclassroom.Thus,thereflectiononhowtheInternetcaninfluence
theprocessofforeignlanguageteachingandlearningseemstobenecessaryinorderto
equipcontemporarylanguageteacherswiththeessentialsetofcompetencesandskills.
Theturnofthe20thcenturywitnesseddramaticchangesintheshapeofalanguage
classroom.Ontheonehand,initialproblemswithInternetaccessduetofairlyhigh
InternetServiceProviderchargesandequallydifficultrefurbishingofobsoletecomputer
labsineducationalestablishmentshavebeen,toalargeextent,improvedwiththehelp
ofsignificantstateandlocalgovernmentsupportaswellasincreasingcompetitionin
thetelecommunicationsmarket,resultinginmostschoolsbeingequippedwithcomputer
labswiththereasonablyfastInternetconnection.Thus,earlierclaimsofproblemswith
