Inthecaseoftheunprocessedproductscategory,asmalllevelofdiversiﬁcation

maybealimitationfortheapplicationoftheconceptofmeasuringintra-industry

exchangeinthecaseofunprocessedproducts(agri-foodproducts,fuelsandraw

materials).TefocusonindustrialproductsinIITanalysisseemsobvious,asin

2015thistraderepresentedalmost90%ofthetotalintra-industrytradeintheEU-10

andEU-15(89%fortheEU-10and87%fortheEU-15)andmuchmorethan70%

oftotaltrade(72%fortheEU-10and79%fortheEU-15).Butthedevelopment

ofintra-industrytradetakesplacenotonlywithinindustrialproducts.Televelof

diversiﬁcationofunprocessedproductsisgrowing,asthestrengthofthebrandis

growing,alsointhemarketofbasicgoodsandrawmaterials.What’smore,these

areimportanteconomicsectorsresponsibleformeetingbasicsocialneeds-includ-

ingi.a.agri-foodproductsandelectricity.Teyprovidemanyjobs(forexample:

BiedronkaandPGEinPoland2),guaranteethedevelopmentofcompetitionatthe

SEM,requiremoreandmoreinvestmentexpendituresinthedevelopmentofcom-

petitivebusinessmodels,ofmanagerialstafandmoreefcientproduction,greater

automatisationandinvestmentsinbrands.Tedevelopmentofcompaniesfrom

thesesectorswithintheSEM(especiallyfromtheEU-10)disruptsmonopolistic

competitioninthemarketsofWesternEurope(EU-15),andgreatercompetition

favoursconsumersandincreasesthelevelofprosperityofsocieties.

Contributiontoscientificresearch

Tecontributionofthepresentedstudytoscientiﬁcresearchcanbedividedinto

categoriesrelatedtothemainfunctionsofscience.Tescopeoftasksexecutedin

scientiﬁcresearchcoversthetheoretical(developingscientiﬁctheories)andempirical

(carryingoutstudies)explanationsandillustrationsofreality.Suchactivitiesserve

toperformallfunctionsofscientiﬁcresearch

Asregardsthedescriptivefunctionofscience,oneaddedvalueoftheconducted

studywasabroadstatisticalanalysisofdataconcerningtheintra-industrytradeof

theEU-10ascomparedtotheEU-15,conductedatalowlevelofaggregation(CN6)

onalongtimeseries(2004-2015).Itisworthconsideringanattempttoapplysimilar

analysisconditionsforfurtherstudiesintothephenomenonofthedevelopmentof
