Earlyinterventionmeansinterdisciplinaryactivitiesaimedatenhancingthe
developmentofsmallchildrenandtheirfamilies.Ononehand,themaingoalof
thisprocessisshapingsuchinteractionsbetweentheguardiansandthechildwhich
willfacilitatethischild’sphysical,mentalandsocialfunctioning.Ontheother,the
conductedactivitiesshouldsupportanddeveloptheskillsandpotentialitiesofthe
guardiansinregardtotheimplementationofthemainaimofearlyintervention.
Teseactivitiesbecomefeasibleonlyafermakingaquickandveryearlydiag-
nosisbyaninterdisciplinaryteamofspecialists.Teeńectivenessofthisprocess
dependsontime-theearlierachild’sdevelopmentaldysfunctionsarenoticed,the
moreeńectivethesupportcanbecome.Tisresultsinmuchlesserconsequencesof
possibledevelopmentaldisorderswhichcandeterminethechild’sfuturelife.
Whatseemsasignificantbutofenunderratedfactorisorganizingsupportin
thecontextofthewholefamily.Achildshouldnotbeperceivedthroughtheirdefi-
citsmeantforcompensationandrehabilitationbutasapersonlivinginaparticu-
larfamily,whichpossessescertaincapabilityandresourcesthatconstituteabasis
forearlyinterventionactivities.Recognizingandmakinguseofthesepotentialities
allowsfororganizingpartialsupportinthechild’snaturalenvironment-family
home.Suchanapproachnecessitatesaholisticviewofspecialistsontheprocessof
earlyintervention,whichcomprisesnotonlythefactorsofpsycho-socialdevelop-
mentbutalsosocialfactors.
Teholisticapproachtotheissuesofearlyinterventionenablesinterdiscipli-
naryandmulti-rangediscussion.Tissubjectmatterisdealtinnumeroustheoreti-
calstudies,debatesandconferences.Teprocessofearlyinterventionisthefieldof
interestforspecialistsrepresentingdińerentenvironments:medical,psychological
andpedagogicalones.Terefore,itseemsimportanttointegratetheseenviron-
mentsinordertoobtainaninterdisciplinaryviewuponthepracticeandtheoryof
earlyintervention.
