Whenthedebatebetweenliberalsandcommunitariansreacheditsquite
impressivedevelopmentmorethantwentyyearsago,ithadprettyquickly
beenpredictedthatthedebatewouldsoonendasfastasitappeared
onthesocial-analyticalscene.However,asthetimewaspassingby,the
argumentskeptgrowinganditturnedoutthatthetopicofconcernseems
tobeeternal.Afterall,liberaldemocracy,whichinthemeantimespread
overnewareasoftheworld,showedthatitisneverfreeofproblems
connectedwiththequalityofthesocialties,whilesometimesitcaneven
beaccusedofcontributingtosuchproblems.
LetuslookattherecentanalysispreparedbyMarekZiółkowskifor
theCivicCongressin2010,whereheclaimsthatPolesarebecoming
moreandmoreindividualistic,orientedtowardsindividualachievements
andlessandlesscaringfortheirsocialtiesandcommunities.HThesocial
bondscreatedineverydayproductiveactivitiesaretreatedmoreand
moreinstrumentally.”1Lateroninhisanalysisheclaimsthatalthough
thesymboliccommunity,seenonspecialoccasions,maybesaidtobe
stillworking,theciviccommunityisveryweak:HInstitutionalizedmeans
ofexpressingcommonconcernforpublicaffairs,forcommongood,
