TeteachingofEnglishisperceivedasoneofthemoreimportantelementsof
moderneducation.TeEnglishlanguageisacompulsoryschoolsubjectandits
learningbeginsassoonasinpreschool.Itusuallyprecedestheteachingofanother
foreignlanguage(orotherforeignlanguages)forseveralyears,thusformingthefirst
andmostimportantexperienceforthelearners-itdeterminesandinfluencesthe
wholelinguisticdevelopmentpathofyoungpeople.Fromtheacademicperspective,
theteachingandlearningofEnglishisarguablythemostdevelopedareawithin
foreignlanguageeducation.Inaddition,itsdidacticsisgiventhemostattentionin
CentralEuropeancountries.
Unfortunately,therealityoutlinedabovedoesnottranslateintothepublicationof
syntheticacademictextbooksthatpresentthewholerangeofaspectsrelatedtothe
teachingandlearningoftheEnglishlanguage,addressedtoTEFLspecialization
students.Scholarswhoresearchthisareaonlyrarelydecidetocompiletheirfindings
withtheviewofencapsulatingthecurrentstateofdevelopmentofthisacademic
field.Teirattentionisusuallyfocusedondevisingstudiesofamorespecialized
character;discussingspecificaspectsconnectedwiththeprocessoflearningand
teachingtheEnglishlanguage.Toasignificantextent,thesestudiesformthesub-
stantivebasisforthecurrenteducationoffutureteachersandtheprofessionaldevel-
opmentofthoseteachersandpractitionerswhoareinterestedintheirownfurther
education.TeyaresupplementedbythefewPolishstudieswhichtreatthedidac-
ticsandmethodologyofforeignlanguageteachinginacomprehensivemanner,as
wellasbyforeignpublications(mostlyBritish),addressedtofutureteachersofthe
Englishlanguagethroughouttheworld.TeEuropeanstandardizationoflanguage
educationandvocationaleducationoflanguageteachers,presentinthesematerials,
supportssuchpractices.However,itisnecessarytobearinmindthatinitspractical
andcurriculum-relateddimensiontheydonotfullyaccountforspecificlocaledu-
cationalconditionswhileassumingthatthesolutionsdevelopedandpresentedin
thosematerialsprovideanattractiveoferforallthosewhoarepreparingtobecome
teachersoftheEnglishlanguageinvariousregionsofthemodern,increasingly
globalizedworld.
