“Whydoyoustrikeyourfellow?”
2.14Hesaid,“Whomadeyouaprinceandajudgeoverus?Doyouplan
tokillme,asyoukilledtheEgyptian?”
Moseswasafraid,andsaid,“Surelythisthingisknown.”2.15Now
whenPharaohheardthisthing,hesoughttokillMoses.ButMosesfled
fromthefaceofPharaoh,andlivedinthelandofMidian,andhesat
downbyawell.
2.16NowthepriestofMidianhadsevendaughters.Theycameanddrew
water,andfilledthetroughstowatertheirfather’sflock.2.17The
shepherdscameanddrovethemaway;butMosesstoodupandhelped
them,andwateredtheirflock.2.18WhentheycametoReuel,their
father,hesaid,“Howisitthatyouhavereturnedsoearlytoday?”
2.19Theysaid,“AnEgyptiandeliveredusoutofthehandofthe
shepherds,andmoreoverhedrewwaterforus,andwateredtheflock.”
2.20Hesaidtohisdaughters,“Whereishe?Whyisitthatyouhaveleft
theman?Callhim,thathemayeatbread.”
2.21Moseswascontenttodwellwiththeman.HegaveMoses
Zipporah,hisdaughter.2.22Sheboreason,andhenamedhim
Gershom,[“Gershom”soundsliketheHebrewfor“analienthere”.]
forhesaid,“Ihavelivedasaforeignerinaforeignland.”
2.23Inthecourseofthosemanydays,thekingofEgyptdied,andthe
childrenofIsraelsighedbecauseofthebondage,andtheycried,and
theircrycameuptoGodbecauseofthebondage.2.24Godheardtheir
groaning,andGodrememberedhiscovenantwithAbraham,with
Isaac,andwithJacob.2.25GodsawthechildrenofIsrael,andGodwas
concernedaboutthem.
