theeldersofIsraeltogether,andtellthem,‘Yahweh,theGodofyour
fathers,theGodofAbraham,ofIsaac,andofJacob,hasappeared
tome,saying,“Ihavesurelyvisitedyou,andseenthatwhichisdone
toyouinEgypt;3.17andIhavesaid,Iwillbringyouupoutofthe
afflictionofEgypttothelandoftheCanaanite,theHittite,the
Amorite,thePerizzite,theHivite,andtheJebusite,toalandflowing
withmilkandhoney.”’3.18Theywilllistentoyourvoice,andyoushall
come,youandtheeldersofIsrael,tothekingofEgypt,andyoushall
tellhim,‘Yahweh,theGodoftheHebrews,hasmetwithus.Now
pleaseletusgothreedays’journeyintothewilderness,thatwemay
sacrificetoYahweh,ourGod.’3.19IknowthatthekingofEgyptwon’t
giveyoupermissiontogo,no,notbyamightyhand.3.20Iwillreach
outmyhandandstrikeEgyptwithallmywonderswhichIwill
doamongthem,andafterthathewillletyougo.3.21Iwillgivethis
peoplefavorinthesightoftheEgyptians,anditwillhappenthatwhen
yougo,youshallnotgoempty-handed.3.22Buteverywomanshallask
ofherneighbor,andofherwhovisitsherhouse,jewelsofsilver,
jewelsofgold,andclothing;andyoushallputthemonyoursons,and
onyourdaughters.YoushallplundertheEgyptians.”
