Onthewhole,CL-basedviewsofequivalencehighlightitsdynamicna-
ture,whichimpliestheapplicationoftwomainparameterstointerpret
thisnotion.Oneistheparameterofsimilarity/resemblancetotheorigi-
nal,ratherthanitsfaithfulness,andtheotheristhatoftheperlocutionary
efectsonthesource-andtarget-languagerecipients.
Withrespecttothewidenedunderstandingofwhatandwhoconsti-
tutesthecontextforthetranslationalusageevent,webringuptheidea
ofgroundedcognition.Althoughtheviewthatconceptualstructure
derivesfromhumanembodiedexperienceisnowwidelyheldasthe
cornerstoneof
CL
research,insomeofthecurrentstrainsofresearchinto
thehumanminditisassertedthatitisnotonlyourphysicalembodiment
thatgivesrisetoourconcepts.Apartfromthebody,thephysicaland
social-culturalenvironmentalsocontributetotheshapeofourcon-
ceptualisations,whichconstitutesanassumptionthatcanbesubsumed
undertheumbrellatermofgroundedcognition.Recently,ithasbeen
empiricallyshownthathumanconceptualknowledgecanberegarded
asgroundedinthatcognitionisshapedbythephysicalandsocio-cul-
turalcontextinwhichourmentalactivityoccurs(Barsalou2016),an
assumptionthatcangobeyondbutdoesnotprecludetheconception
ofembodiedcognition.
