1.1Yahweh[“Yahweh”isGod’sproperName,sometimesrendered
“LORD”(allcaps)inothertranslations.]calledtoMoses,andspoke
tohimfromtheTentofMeeting,saying,1.2“Speaktothechildren
ofIsrael,andtellthem,‘Whenanyoneofyouoffersanoffering
toYahweh,youshallofferyourofferingofthelivestock,fromtheherd
andfromtheflock.
1.3“‘Ifhisofferingisaburntofferingfromtheherd,heshalloffer
amalewithoutdefect.HeshallofferitatthedooroftheTent
ofMeeting,thathemaybeacceptedbeforeYahweh.1.4Heshalllayhis
handontheheadoftheburntoffering,anditshallbeacceptedforhim
tomakeatonementforhim.1.5HeshallkillthebullbeforeYahweh.
Aaron’ssons,thepriests,shallpresentthebloodandsprinkletheblood
aroundonthealtarthatisatthedooroftheTentofMeeting.1.6
Heshallflaytheburntoffering,andcutitintopieces.1.7Thesons
ofAaronthepriestshallputfireonthealtar,andlaywoodinorder
onthefire;1.8andAaron’ssons,thepriests,shalllaythepieces,the
head,andthefatinorderonthewoodthatisonthefirewhich
isonthealtar;1.9butitsinnardsanditslegsheshallwashwithwater.
Thepriestshallburnallofitonthealtar,foraburntoffering,
anofferingmadebyfire,ofapleasantaromatoYahweh.
1.10“‘Ifhisofferingisfromtheflock,fromthesheep,orfromthe
goats,foraburntoffering,heshallofferamalewithoutdefect.1.11
HeshallkillitonthenorthsideofthealtarbeforeYahweh.Aaron’s
sons,thepriests,shallsprinkleitsbloodaroundonthealtar.1.12
Heshallcutitintoitspieces,withitsheadanditsfat.Thepriestshall
laytheminorderonthewoodthatisonthefirewhichisonthealtar,
1.13buttheinnardsandthelegsheshallwashwithwater.Thepriest
shallofferthewhole,andburnitonthealtar.Itisaburntoffering,
anofferingmadebyfire,ofapleasantaromatoYahweh.
