ofEgypt,togiveyouthelandofCanaan,andtobeyourGod.
25.39“‘Ifyourbrotherhasgrownpooramongyou,andsellshimself
toyou;youshallnotmakehimtoserveasaslave.25.40Asahired
servant,andasatemporaryresident,heshallbewithyou;heshall
servewithyouuntiltheYearofJubilee:25.41thenheshallgooutfrom
you,heandhischildrenwithhim,andshallreturntohisownfamily,
andtothepossessionofhisfathers.25.42Fortheyaremyservants,
whomIbroughtoutofthelandofEgypt.Theyshallnotbesold
asslaves.25.43Youshallnotruleoverhimwithharshness,butshallfear
yourGod.
25.44“‘Asforyourmaleandyourfemaleslaves,whomyoumayhave;
ofthenationsthatarearoundyou,fromthemyoumaybuymaleand
femaleslaves.25.45Moreoverofthechildrenofthealienswholive
amongyou,ofthemyoumaybuy,andoftheirfamilieswhoarewith
you,whichtheyhaveconceivedinyourland;andtheywillbeyour
property.25.46Youmaymakethemaninheritanceforyourchildren
afteryou,toholdforapossession;ofthemmayyoutakeyourslaves
forever;butoveryourbrothersthechildrenofIsraelyoushallnotrule,
oneoveranother,withharshness.
25.47“‘Ifanalienortemporaryresidentwithyoubecomesrich,andyour
brotherbesidehimhasgrownpoor,andsellshimselftothestranger
orforeignerlivingamongyou,ortoamemberofthestranger’sfamily;
25.48afterheissoldhemayberedeemed.Oneofhisbrothersmay
redeemhim;25.49orhisuncle,orhisuncle’sson,mayredeemhim,
oranywhoisacloserelativetohimofhisfamilymayredeemhim;
orifhehasgrownrich,hemayredeemhimself.25.50Heshallreckon
withhimwhoboughthimfromtheyearthathesoldhimselftohim
totheYearofJubilee.Thepriceofhissaleshallbeaccordingtothe
numberofyears;heshallbewithhimaccordingtothetimeofahired
servant.25.51Ifthereareyetmanyyears,accordingtothemheshall
givebackthepriceofhisredemptionoutofthemoneythathewas
boughtfor.25.52Ifthereremainbutafewyearstotheyearofjubilee,
thenheshallreckonwithhim;accordingtohisyearsofserviceheshall
