atthebeginningofthe21stcentury,theautomotiveindustrywasanexample
ofanoligopolywherethetop10companiesproducedover75%ofproduction.
Asmanyauthorsemphasize.J.Burnewicz.,M.Orlicki.,J.Wicher.,inrecent
yearstherehavebeenmanysignificantchangesinthismatter.Thefirstmanifes-
tationwastheintroductionin2002oftheEURegulationNo.1400/2002ofJuly
31,2002ontheapplicationofart.81par.3oftheTreatytothecategoryofver-
ticalagreementsandconcertedpracticesintheautomotivesector.AlsoPoland,
sharingthevaluesthatunderpintheunityoftheUnion,decidedtointroduce
onJanuary28,2003theRegulationoftheCouncilofMinistersontheexclusion
ofsomeverticalagreementsinthemotorvehiclesectorfromtheprohibition
ofagreementsrestrictingcompetition.
Observationsofmarketrealityindicatedthattheabove-mentionedRegula-
tionsledtomanysignificantchangesinthescopeofsalesanddistribution
ofcarsandsparepartsaswellasrepairservices.Onthisbasis,itcanbecon-
cludedthatcompetitionproblemshavebeensolvedforthissectoroftheecono-
my.Nothingcouldbemorewrong.Insubsequentyears,theEuropeanCommis-
sionwasforcedtodecideonextendingthesaidregulationsuntil2023,
afterwhichitwouldissueafinalresolutiononthefurtherfateoftheRegulations
afterthisperiod.
Consideringthisfact,manyauthorsaswellasrepresentativesofinstitutions
andofficesemphasizethenecessitytocarryoutresearchincludingtheimpact
oftheseregulationsontheautomotivemarketbothonthemacroandmicro
scale.
Therefore,attemptingtodiscusstheseissuesseemstobetheproperidentifi-
cationoftheresearchproblem,consideringthatathoroughanalysisoftheliter-
atureinthefieldofeconomicscienceshasrevealedthelackofitemsdescribing
theeconomicandorganizationaleffectsofintroducingtheseregulationsinthis
marketinbothpracticalandtheoreticalterms.
Thus,thismonographisanattempttofillthegapintheliteratureonthe
subject.Thisfactmakesthismonographevenmoreinterestingandworth
recommendingtoeveryreader.
