20.9“Whenthosewhowerehiredatabouttheeleventhhourcame,theyeachreceivedadenarius.20.10Whenthefirstcame,theysupposed
thattheywouldreceivemore;andtheylikewiseeachreceivedadenarius.20.11Whentheyreceivedit,theymurmuredagainstthemaster
ofthehousehold,20.12saying,‘Theselasthavespentonehour,andyouhavemadethemequaltous,whohavebornetheburdenofthe
dayandthescorchingheat!’
20.13“Butheansweredoneofthem,‘Friend,Iamdoingyounowrong.Didn’tyouagreewithmeforadenarius?20.14Takethatwhich
isyours,andgoyourway.Itismydesiretogivetothislastjustasmuchastoyou.20.15Isn’titlawfulformetodowhatIwanttowith
whatIown?Orisyoureyeevil,becauseIamgood?’20.16Sothelastwillbefirst,andthefirstlast.Formanyarecalled,butfeware
chosen.”
20.17AsJesuswasgoinguptoJerusalem,hetookthetwelvedisciplesaside,andonthewayhesaidtothem,20.18“Behold,wearegoing
uptoJerusalem,andtheSonofManwillbedeliveredtothechiefpriestsandscribes,andtheywillcondemnhimtodeath,20.19andwill
handhimovertotheGentilestomock,toscourge,andtocrucify;andthethirddayhewillberaisedup.”
20.20ThenthemotherofthesonsofZebedeecametohimwithhersons,kneelingandaskingacertainthingofhim.20.21Hesaidtoher,
“Whatdoyouwant?”
Shesaidtohim,“Commandthatthese,mytwosons,maysit,oneonyourrighthand,andoneonyourlefthand,inyourKingdom.”
20.22ButJesusanswered,“Youdon’tknowwhatyouareasking.AreyouabletodrinkthecupthatIamabouttodrink,andbebaptizedwith
thebaptismthatIambaptizedwith?”
Theysaidtohim,“Weareable.”
20.23Hesaidtothem,“Youwillindeeddrinkmycup,andbebaptizedwiththebaptismthatIambaptizedwith,buttositonmyrighthand
andonmylefthandisnotminetogive;butitisforwhomithasbeenpreparedbymyFather.”
20.24Whenthetenheardit,theywereindignantwiththetwobrothers.
20.25ButJesussummonedthem,andsaid,“Youknowthattherulersofthenationslorditoverthem,andtheirgreatonesexerciseauthority
overthem.20.26Itshallnotbesoamongyou,butwhoeverdesirestobecomegreatamongyoushallbe[*]yourservant.20.27Whoeverdesires
tobefirstamongyoushallbeyourbondservant,20.28evenastheSonofMancamenottobeserved,buttoserve,andtogivehislife
asaransomformany.”
20.29AstheywentoutfromJericho,agreatmultitudefollowedhim.20.30Behold,twoblindmensittingbytheroad,whentheyheardthat
Jesuswaspassingby,criedout,“Lord,havemercyonus,yousonofDavid!”20.31Themultituderebukedthem,tellingthemthatthey
shouldbequiet,buttheycriedoutevenmore,“Lord,havemercyonus,yousonofDavid!”
20.32Jesusstoodstill,andcalledthem,andasked,“Whatdoyouwantmetodoforyou?”
20.33Theytoldhim,“Lord,thatoureyesmaybeopened.”
20.34Jesus,beingmovedwithcompassion,touchedtheireyes;andimmediatelytheireyesreceivedtheirsight,andtheyfollowedhim.

21.1WhentheycameneartoJerusalem,andcametoBethsphage[*],totheMountofOlives,thenJesussenttwodisciples,21.2saying
tothem,“Gointothevillagethatisoppositeyou,andimmediatelyyouwillfindadonkeytied,andacoltwithher.Untiethem,andbring
themtome.21.3Ifanyonesaysanythingtoyou,youshallsay,‘TheLordneedsthem,’andimmediatelyhewillsendthem.”
21.4Allthiswasdone,thatitmightbefulfilledwhichwasspokenthroughtheprophet,saying,
21.5“TellthedaughterofZion,
behold,yourKingcomestoyou,
humble,andridingonadonkey,
onacolt,thefoalofadonkey.”
21.6Thediscipleswent,anddidjustasJesuscommandedthem,21.7andbroughtthedonkeyandthecolt,andlaidtheirclothesonthem;and
hesatonthem.21.8Averygreatmultitudespreadtheirclothesontheroad.Otherscutbranchesfromthetrees,andspreadthemonthe
road.21.9Themultitudeswhowentinfrontofhim,andthosewhofollowed,keptshouting,“Hosanna[*]tothesonofDavid!Blessed
ishewhocomesinthenameoftheLord!Hosannainthehighest!”
21.10WhenhehadcomeintoJerusalem,allthecitywasstirredup,saying,“Whoisthis?”21.11Themultitudessaid,“Thisistheprophet,
Jesus,fromNazarethofGalilee.”
21.12JesusenteredintothetempleofGod,anddroveoutallofthosewhosoldandboughtinthetemple,andoverthrewthemoney
changers’tablesandtheseatsofthosewhosoldthedoves.21.13Hesaidtothem,“Itiswritten,‘Myhouseshallbecalledahouse
ofprayer,’butyouhavemadeitadenofrobbers!”
21.14Theblindandthelamecametohiminthetemple,andhehealedthem.21.15Butwhenthechiefpriestsandthescribessawthe
wonderfulthingsthathedid,andthechildrenwhowerecryinginthetempleandsaying,“HosannatothesonofDavid!”theywere
indignant,21.16andsaidtohim,“Doyouhearwhatthesearesaying?”
Jesussaidtothem,“Yes.Didyouneverread,‘Outofthemouthofbabesandnursingbabiesyouhaveperfectedpraise?’”
21.17Heleftthem,andwentoutofthecitytoBethany,andcampedthere.21.18Nowinthemorning,ashereturnedtothecity,hewas
hungry.21.19Seeingafigtreebytheroad,hecametoit,andfoundnothingonitbutleaves.Hesaidtoit,“Lettherebenofruitfromyou
forever!”
Immediatelythefigtreewitheredaway.21.20Whenthedisciplessawit,theymarveled,saying,“Howdidthefigtreeimmediatelywither
away?”
21.21Jesusansweredthem,“MostcertainlyItellyou,ifyouhavefaith,anddon’tdoubt,youwillnotonlydowhatwasdonetothefigtree,
butevenifyoutoldthismountain,‘Betakenupandcastintothesea,’itwouldbedone.21.22Allthings,whateveryouaskinprayer,
believing,youwillreceive.”
21.23Whenhehadcomeintothetemple,thechiefpriestsandtheeldersofthepeoplecametohimashewasteaching,andsaid,“Bywhat
authoritydoyoudothesethings?Whogaveyouthisauthority?”
21.24Jesusansweredthem,“Ialsowillaskyouonequestion,whichifyoutellme,IlikewisewilltellyoubywhatauthorityIdothesethings.
21.25ThebaptismofJohn,wherewasitfrom?Fromheavenorfrommen?”
Theyreasonedwiththemselves,saying,“Ifwesay,‘Fromheaven,’hewillaskus,‘Whythendidyounotbelievehim?’21.26Butifwesay,
‘Frommen,’wefearthemultitude,forallholdJohnasaprophet.”21.27TheyansweredJesus,andsaid,“Wedon’tknow.”
Healsosaidtothem,“NeitherwillItellyoubywhatauthorityIdothesethings.21.28Butwhatdoyouthink?Amanhadtwosons,and
