28.1NowaftertheSabbath,asitbegantodawnonthefirstdayoftheweek,MaryMagdaleneandtheotherMarycametoseethetomb.28.2
Behold,therewasagreatearthquake,foranangeloftheLorddescendedfromthesky,andcameandrolledawaythestonefromthe
door,andsatonit.28.3Hisappearancewaslikelightning,andhisclothingwhiteassnow.28.4Forfearofhim,theguardsshook,andbecame
likedeadmen.28.5Theangelansweredthewomen,“Don’tbeafraid,forIknowthatyouseekJesus,whohasbeencrucified.28.6Heisnot
here,forhehasrisen,justlikehesaid.Come,seetheplacewheretheLordwaslying.28.7Goquicklyandtellhisdisciples,‘Hehasrisen
fromthedead,andbehold,hegoesbeforeyouintoGalilee;thereyouwillseehim.’Behold,Ihavetoldyou.”
28.8Theydepartedquicklyfromthetombwithfearandgreatjoy,andrantobringhisdisciplesword.28.9Astheywenttotellhisdisciples,
behold,Jesusmetthem,saying,“Rejoice!”
Theycameandtookholdofhisfeet,andworshipedhim.
28.10ThenJesussaidtothem,“Don’tbeafraid.Gotellmybrothers[*]thattheyshouldgointoGalilee,andtheretheywillseeme.”
28.11Nowwhiletheyweregoing,behold,someoftheguardscameintothecity,andtoldthechiefpriestsallthethingsthathadhappened.
28.12Whentheywereassembledwiththeelders,andhadtakencounsel,theygavealargeamountofsilvertothesoldiers,28.13saying,“Say
thathisdisciplescamebynight,andstolehimawaywhileweslept.28.14Ifthiscomestothegovernor’sears,wewillpersuadehimand
makeyoufreeofworry.”28.15Sotheytookthemoneyanddidastheyweretold.ThissayingwasspreadabroadamongtheJews,and
continuesuntiltoday.
28.16ButtheelevendiscipleswentintoGalilee,tothemountainwhereJesushadsentthem.28.17Whentheysawhim,theyboweddown
tohim,butsomedoubted.28.18Jesuscametothemandspoketothem,saying,“Allauthorityhasbeengiventomeinheavenand
onearth.28.19Go[*],andmakedisciplesofallnations,baptizingtheminthenameoftheFatherandoftheSonandoftheHolySpirit,28.20
teachingthemtoobserveallthingsthatIcommandedyou.Behold,Iamwithyoualways,eventotheendoftheage.”Amen.
