7.28Butsheansweredhim,“Yes,Lord.Yeteventhedogsunderthetableeatthechildren’scrumbs.”
7.29Hesaidtoher,“Forthissaying,goyourway.Thedemonhasgoneoutofyourdaughter.”
7.30Shewentawaytoherhouse,andfoundthechildhavingbeenlaidonthebed,withthedemongoneout.
7.31AgainhedepartedfromthebordersofTyreandSidon,andcametotheseaofGalilee,throughthemiddleoftheregionofDecapolis.
7.32Theybroughttohimonewhowasdeafandhadanimpedimentinhisspeech.Theybeggedhimtolayhishandonhim.7.33Hetookhim
asidefromthemultitude,privately,andputhisfingersintohisears,andhespat,andtouchedhistongue.7.34Lookinguptoheaven,
hesighed,andsaidtohim,“Ephphatha!”thatis,“Beopened!”7.35Immediatelyhisearswereopened,andtheimpedimentofhistongue
wasreleased,andhespokeclearly.7.36Hecommandedthemthattheyshouldtellnoone,butthemorehecommandedthem,somuch
themorewidelytheyproclaimedit.7.37Theywereastonishedbeyondmeasure,saying,“Hehasdoneallthingswell.Hemakeseventhe
deafhear,andthemutespeak!”

8.1Inthosedays,whentherewasaverygreatmultitude,andtheyhadnothingtoeat,Jesuscalledhisdisciplestohimself,andsaid
tothem,8.2“Ihavecompassiononthemultitude,becausetheyhavestayedwithmenowthreedays,andhavenothingtoeat.8.3IfIsend
themawayfastingtotheirhome,theywillfaintontheway,forsomeofthemhavecomealongway.”
8.4Hisdisciplesansweredhim,“Fromwherecouldonesatisfythesepeoplewithbreadhereinadesertedplace?”
8.5Heaskedthem,“Howmanyloavesdoyouhave?”
Theysaid,“Seven.”
8.6Hecommandedthemultitudetositdownontheground,andhetookthesevenloaves.Havinggiventhanks,hebrokethem,andgave
themtohisdisciplestoserve,andtheyservedthemultitude.8.7Theyhadafewsmallfish.Havingblessedthem,hesaidtoservethese
also.8.8Theyate,andwerefilled.Theytookupsevenbasketsofbrokenpiecesthatwereleftover.8.9Thosewhohadeatenwereabout
fourthousand.Thenhesentthemaway.
8.10Immediatelyheenteredintotheboatwithhisdisciples,andcameintotheregionofDalmanutha.8.11ThePhariseescameoutand
begantoquestionhim,seekingfromhimasignfromheaven,andtestinghim.8.12Hesigheddeeplyinhisspirit,andsaid,“Whydoesthis
generation[*]seekasign?MostcertainlyItellyou,nosignwillbegiventothisgeneration.”
8.13Heleftthem,andagainenteringintotheboat,departedtotheotherside.8.14Theyforgottotakebread;andtheydidn’thavemore
thanoneloafintheboatwiththem.8.15Hewarnedthem,saying,“Takeheed:bewareoftheyeastofthePhariseesandtheyeast
ofHerod.”
8.16Theyreasonedwithoneanother,saying,“It’sbecausewehavenobread.”
8.17Jesus,perceivingit,saidtothem,“Whydoyoureasonthatit’sbecauseyouhavenobread?Don’tyouperceiveyet,neither
understand?Isyourheartstillhardened?8.18Havingeyes,don’tyousee?Havingears,don’tyouhear?Don’tyouremember?8.19When
Ibrokethefiveloavesamongthefivethousand,howmanybasketsfullofbrokenpiecesdidyoutakeup?”
Theytoldhim,“Twelve.”
8.20“Whenthesevenloavesfedthefourthousand,howmanybasketsfullofbrokenpiecesdidyoutakeup?”
Theytoldhim,“Seven.”
8.21Heaskedthem,“Don’tyouunderstand,yet?”
8.22HecametoBethsaida.Theybroughtablindmantohim,andbeggedhimtotouchhim.8.23Hetookholdoftheblindmanbythehand,
andbroughthimoutofthevillage.Whenhehadspitonhiseyes,andlaidhishandsonhim,heaskedhimifhesawanything.
8.24Helookedup,andsaid,“Iseemen;forIseethemliketreeswalking.”
8.25Thenagainhelaidhishandsonhiseyes.Helookedintently,andwasrestored,andsaweveryoneclearly.8.26Hesenthimawaytohis
house,saying,“Don’tenterintothevillage,nortellanyoneinthevillage.”
8.27Jesuswentout,withhisdisciples,intothevillagesofCaesareaPhilippi.Onthewayheaskedhisdisciples,“Whodomensaythat
Iam?”
8.28Theytoldhim,“JohntheBaptizer,andotherssayElijah,butothers:oneoftheprophets.”
8.29Hesaidtothem,“ButwhodoyousaythatIam?”
Peteranswered,“YouaretheChrist.”
8.30Hecommandedthemthattheyshouldtellnooneabouthim.8.31HebegantoteachthemthattheSonofManmustsuffermanythings,
andberejectedbytheelders,thechiefpriests,andthescribes,andbekilled,andafterthreedaysriseagain.8.32Hespoketothemopenly.
Petertookhim,andbegantorebukehim.8.33Buthe,turningaround,andseeinghisdisciples,rebukedPeter,andsaid,“Getbehindme,
Satan!ForyouhaveinmindnotthethingsofGod,butthethingsofmen.”
8.34Hecalledthemultitudetohimselfwithhisdisciples,andsaidtothem,“Whoeverwantstocomeafterme,lethimdenyhimself,and
takeuphiscross,andfollowme.8.35Forwhoeverwantstosavehislifewillloseit;andwhoeverwilllosehislifeformysakeandthesake
oftheGoodNewswillsaveit.8.36Forwhatdoesitprofitaman,togainthewholeworld,andforfeithislife?8.37Forwhatwillamangive
inexchangeforhislife?8.38Forwhoeverwillbeashamedofmeandofmywordsinthisadulterousandsinfulgeneration,theSonofMan
alsowillbeashamedofhim,whenhecomesinhisFather’sglory,withtheholyangels.”

9.1Hesaidtothem,“MostcertainlyItellyou,therearesomestandingherewhowillinnowaytastedeathuntiltheyseeGod’sKingdom
comewithpower.”
9.2AftersixdaysJesustookwithhimPeter,James,andJohn,andbroughtthemupontoahighmountainprivatelybythemselves,and
hewaschangedintoanotherforminfrontofthem.9.3Hisclothingbecameglistening,exceedinglywhite,likesnow,suchasnolaunderer
onearthcanwhitenthem.9.4ElijahandMosesappearedtothem,andtheyweretalkingwithJesus.
9.5PeteransweredJesus,“Rabbi,itisgoodforustobehere.Let’smakethreetents:oneforyou,oneforMoses,andoneforElijah.”9.6For
hedidn’tknowwhattosay,fortheywereveryafraid.
9.7Acloudcame,overshadowingthem,andavoicecameoutofthecloud,“ThisismybelovedSon.Listentohim.”
