-Polishmacaronisms.CzesławHernasbelievedthatthecolourfuland
numerousborrowings-apartfromtheirpracticalpurposes(theinser-
tionofvariousphrases,wordsandgrammaticalconstructions,mainly
LatininOldPolish)-wereanexpressionofrhetoricalfashion,as“Polish
interlacedwithLatinseemednoblerandricher.”
