Telongandcomplicatedprocessoflanguageassimilationhasbeentheobjectofinterest
ofpsychologistsandlinguistsalike.Teexchangeofideasintheformofcommunication
andspeakingandunderstanding,withtheirexplicitpsychologicalaspect,playacrucial
roleintheprocessofspeechfunctioning.Anadequatedevelopmentofachildisstrictly
connectedwithlanguagedevelopmentandassuchisbroughttoperfection,ashemasters
andenricheshisvacabulary,whichinturnishighlyinfluencedbytheclosestenvironment.
Steadygrowthintheamountofnewwordsisaccompaniedbycognitiveandemotional
development.Onecanobserveaconsiderablegrowthinlexisinachildattheagefrom5
to6.Sophisticatedanddiversifiedvocabularyofthepre-schoolchild,enrichedwithnew
wordsallowshimtousethelanguagefluentlyandrelativelycorrectly.Tetendenciesin
Polislanguage,whichhavebeenobservedoverthelast25years,havealsobeenreflected
inthelanguageofitsyoungestusers.Comparativetestconductedonthematerialfrom
the60)sandthe70)sinjuxtapositionwiththelatestcontemporaryexampleshaveoutlined
noticeablechanges.
Teliteratureofthesubjectturnsourattentiontotheneedofanewdictionarycompila-
tionwithdefinitions,whichcoulddeterminethelevelofunderstandingofwordsbychildren
startingprimaryeducation.Anattemptmadeatsuchadictionarypreparationhasbeen
presentedinthefinalpartofthearticle.
